As I mentioned last week, I found a recipe that I think was quite similar to Grandma Rose’s applesauce bars from her descriptions. I was so sick though, I couldn’t make it till the other night and after two weeks of illness and no appetite, this was a welcome treat! It was so good, soft, and moist. This vintage recipe has you making a quick homemade applesauce that gets stirred into a quick, spiced batter that is so moist and delicious. It’s topped with a light glaze that just adds a hint of sweetness without being overbearing. It would be perfect with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and drizzled with some caramel sauce… if you’re being extra. I can see why it was Leonard’s favorite!
NOTE: As always, I left her spelling, capitalization, and punctuation as much as possible.
